Home > Action > November 2002 Election

In our Action/Advocacy role, the League is nonpartisan but we use our positions to advocate for or against particular policies in the public interest.

* The League is taking a stand on six of the seven propositions on the ballot on November 5, 2002.

See our detailed analysis for each proposition including description and background, important points, a list of supporters and opponents, resources for more information, and sample letters to the editor:

Yes on 46 -- Yes on 47 -- No on 49
Yes on 50 -- No on 51 -- Yes on 52

We are taking "no position" on Proposition 48 meaning that we are not taking a stand either "for" or "against" the proposition.

For nonpartisan analyses of all propositions, see the League of Women Voters of California Education Fund publications Pros & Cons, In Depth, and Easy Reading Voter Guide.

See also Smart Voter's compilation of information about all propositions at www.smartvoter.org.
