Action Guide for May 19, 2009
We Recommended Voting No On Four Propositions
We recommended a NO vote on Proposition 1A, Proposition 1C, Proposition 1D, and Proposition 1E.
Read
our web summary of our recommendations or print it
to give to your friends. We also have one-page talking points about Proposition 1A
, Proposition 1C
, Proposition 1D
and Proposition 1E
. You can find additional resources on the campaign sites for opposition to Proposition 1A and opposition to Propositions 1D and 1E.
The League occasionally takes a neutral position on ballot measures that deal with issues we have studied, either because there are conflicting League positions or because there are aspects to the measure which in our judgment make our support inappropriate. Refer to the flyer for the reason we were neutral on Proposition 1B.
We only take stands on measures when we have studied the issue and our membership has reached agreement on the policies and positions to support. Refer to the flyer for the reason we did not take a position on Proposition 1F.
May 20: Voters rejected bad policy and defeated propositions 1A-1E. See results and read our press release. ![]()
Why Did We Make These Recommendations?
For more information read our press release
and section on the California Budget Crisis.
We use our positions to take stands on measures when we have studied the issue and our membership has reached agreement on the policies and positions to support. We never take positions on candidates or political parties.
See our main issues page for more information about how League advocacy works.
