On August 11, 2007 in Los Angeles, LWV
California with several local Leagues participated
in the culminating OneCareNow event with great crowds
showing their support for universal health care. See a

In September 2006, LWV Pasadena hosted a table at the Madison
Avenue Health Fair. Over 70 community organizations participated. Collaborating
with the League were members of Health Care for All (SGV chapter) and
the Clean Money Campaign. League tablers were busy from 9am to 2pm,
promoting the League's voter education activities and voter registration,
and explaining SB 840.

LWV Palos Verdes Peninsula. There was excitement on the streets
of the Peninsula Center of Monday afternoon, February 5. Twenty representatives
of a number of South Bay organizations, all supporters of Sheila Kuehl's
Bill SB 840, worked the corner of Silver Spur and Hawthorne Boulevard

LWV Santa Cruz County. A large and enthusiastic crowd heard Mayor Emily Reilly present a proclamation from the city of
Santa Cruz in support of SB840 and single payer health care, followed by
Lt Gov Garamendi's Health Care Specialist, Nettie Hoge, who spoke about
SB840 and the crisis in health care in California. The talk by Santa
Cruz County Supervisor Neal Coonerty on the effects on business and
labor included experience as owner of BookShop Santa Cruz and personal
experience with the health care system. Santa Cruz County Treasurer
Fred Keeley called Sheila Kuehl's bill "the gold standard" in contrast to other
proposed legislation. This was a great evening!

LWV Southwest Santa Clara Valley. Dixieland music drew people past
the produce stands at the Los Gatos Farmers' Market on December 10, 2006,
a stormy Sunday morning. In the photo: Barbara Lea, Nancy Burbank, Anne

Dalrymple. They are speaking with two shopppers and a canine supporter. Although attendance was light, most of those who stopped at the booth signed our OneCareNow peitition, and by the end of the day the sun even joined the fun!

LWV Torrance. On October 8, 2006, LWV members, HCA members, local residents
and others, joined forces at a busy intersection along Pacific Coast Highway
in El Segundo.
