RESOLUTION R-1-2007
IN APPRECIATION OF JOHN MOTT-SMITH
Adopted by Delegates to the LWVC Convention, May 20, 2007
Whereas, The leadership, members and staff of the League of Women
Voters of California recognize the important role of dedicated public
servants in open and transparent government;
Whereas, John Mott-Smith has served as an invaluable and unflagging
source of information, advice and leadership in encouraging Californians
to vote;
Whereas, He has spiritedly supported the Easy Voter Guide Project;
Whereas, He has enthusiastically championed Smart Voter to state
and county election officials;
Whereas, He has capably implemented important federal election
law in California such as the Motor Voter Act and the Help America Vote
Act; and
Whereas, He has provided sound advice and guidance to many League
of Women Voters of California projects in his twenty-five year tenure
in the California Secretary of State's Office; therefore, be it
Resolved, That John Mott-Smith of the California Secretary
of State's Office does hereby receive our grateful recognition, sincere
commendation and utmost appreciation for his professional integrity and
service to the League of Women Voters of California and the voters of
California.
